Every now and then I hear someone singing Will Ferrell's praises, I bite my lip. It's not that I find Farrell unfunny, but I just don't see him as the end all and be all of comedy. Nor Jim Carrey nor Jack Black. I think all these actors are hilarious, but none of them can match the comedic resume of Gene Wilder. I'll take
The Producers, Young Frankenstein, (FronkenSTEEN!)
Blazing Saddles, and
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory over
Old School, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and
Elf anyday.
Gene Wilder's 74th birthday was yesterday; a belated happy birthday to our greatest living comedic actor.
