Why good teams shouldn't draft a QB in the 1st round

The Denver Broncos will appear on Monday Night Football an NFL high three times this coming season. The Baltimore Ravens also appear on MNF three times, but the Ravens finished 13-3 last year. The Broncos finished 9-7, but lost 5 out of their last 7. Out of the Broncos 9 wins, 2 are against Oakland, 1 against Cleveland, 1 against Arizona. Why the hell does the NFL think Denver is going to be a competitive team this year? Because their quarterback is young? Whoop de fraking doo.

Jay Cutler had a solid year, but Jake Plummer was terrific in 2005. Maybe if Denver hadn't drafted his replacement, he would have been solid in 2006. Haloti Ngata, taken with the next pick by Baltimore, was a force against the run for the NFL's number one defense. Kamerion Wimbley, picked 2 sports after Cutler by Cleveland, had 11 sacks and was the runner up for rookie of the year. Cutler first start came week 13 and the team went 2-3 the rest of the way. The Broncos missed the playoffs by a game last year and made the AFC Championship the year before, maybe if they drafted someone who filled a hole in the starting lineup they could have taken a step forward instead of back.
